NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — Chocolate lovers, eat your heart out.

The Friends of the Northborough Senior Center pulled out all the stops at their 8th annual Chocolate Spectacular on Saturday. Adorning the tables at Whitney Place were cookies and cupcakes, truffles and brownies, rum balls and peanut clusters. A small chocolate fountain, complete with fruit and pretzels for dipping, competed for attention with slices of chocolate-drizzled dessert pizza. Peppermint schnapps-spiked hot chocolate was on tap, along with several bottles of red and white wine.

For the many guests who attended, all this, and more, could be theirs for a donation of $20.

"Everything's homemade," said Lori Hagen, a member of the Friends' board. Pepper's Catering on 43 Hudson Street was among the local businesses contributing desserts.

A sign adorning one of the tables read: "A survey has revealed that nine out of 10 people like chocolate. The tenth lied!"

There certainly weren't any liars to be found at this event. People from all over town—and some from out of town—came to support the Council on Aging and indulge in the treats laid out before them.

"The Friends have been a vital partner in support of the Senior Center," said Council on Aging member Jerry Anderson, who added that over the last two years, they have helped to provide approximately $75,000.
